Alliance Resources is the sixth-largest coal producer in the US, selling approx. 39 mm tons/year from the ILB, Capp, and Napp.Â It operates 10 underground mining complexes in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, and West Virginia.
Virtually all of Alliance’s production goes into the steam coal market.
It has a union-free workforce and low legacy liabilities.
The company also leases land and operates a coal loading terminal on the Ohio River at Mt. Vernon, Indiana; and purchases and resells coal.
As of December 31, 2013, it had an estimated 1.1 billion tons of coal reserves within the aforementioned regions (289 mm of which are leased to White Oak Resources). The company was founded in 1971 and is headquartered in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
