Hans Daniels joined DTC in 2013 as Executive Vice President, bringing over twenty years of energy and consulting experience but most recently was promoted to CEO in October 2016. Hans’ background focuses on market analysis and coal supply, demand, transportation, and price forecasts. He previously worked as a principal with Energy Ventures Analysis in Arlington, Virginia. Prior to that, Hans was Vice President of Market Analysis and Strategy for Alpha Natural Resources. While at Alpha, Hans served on the Coal Industry Advisory Board for the International Energy Agency and was on the Economics Committee for the National Mining Association. Hans also was a Director for Global Energy Decisions (now Ventyx) where he headed the coal consulting group and the coal data group. Prior to Global Energy Decisions, Hans was a Senior Associate with Platts Research and Consulting where he developed coal supply, demand, and price forecasts. Hans has also worked as an environmental engineer, hydrogeologist, database administrator, computer modeler, and research scientist at a nuclear weapons facility. Hans earned his Master’s in Environmental Engineering at the University of Colorado and his Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering at Washington University in St. Louis.
